What are the countries participating in the world's first Asian Youth Games (AYG) 2009 in Singapore?

The information about the countries participating in the Asian Youth Games (AYG) can be found at the official Asian Youth Games (AYG) 2009 website.

According to the Asian Youth Games website, the Asian Youth Games (AYG) will be a regional event open to all Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) members.

A projected 45 National Olympic Councils (NOCs) are expected to send about 1,300 top juniors to compete in the 9 sports offered, namely Athletics, Aquatics (Swimming and Diving), FIBA33, Beach Volleyball, Bowling, Football, Sailing, Shooting, Table Tennis.

The information about the countries participating in the Asian Youth Games (AYG) can be found at the official Asian Youth Games (AYG) 2009 website.

According to the Asian Youth Games website, the Asian Youth Games (AYG) will be a regional event open to all Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) members.

Asian Youth Games (AYG) Countdown

Asian Youth Games (AYG) Countdown is ticking on.

There are only 70 days left to the world's first Asian Youth Games (AYG) 2009.

The Asian Youth Games (AYG) will be held from 29 June 2009 to 7 July 2009.

The Asian Youth Games (AYG) will be a regional event open to all Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) members.

A projected 45 National Olympic Councils (NOCs) are expected to send about 1,300 top juniors to compete in the 9 sports offered.

The nine sports are Athletics, Aquatics (Swimming and Diving), 3-on-3 Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Bowling, Football, Sailing, Shooting, Table Tennis.

Name of AYG Mascot

Name of AYG Mascot

If you have been wondering what the name of AYG Mascot is, wonder no more. The name of AYG Mascot is out now.

On April 14 2009, at a contest organised by The Straits Times and AYG Organising Committee, "Frasia" was picked as the name of AYG Mascot.

This name of AYG Mascot was submitted by Michael and Georgia Lye under their child's name to the "Name The AYG Mascot" contest.

What does Frasia mean as a name of AYG Mascot? It is short for Friends of Asia.

They won $500 in cash, two tickets to the opening ceremony, an all-access pass to the June 29 - July 7 2009 Games, $100 worth of 100 Plus products and of course, Frasia, the AYG Mascot toy.

Get ready to hear more of Frasia, the name of AYG Mascot, in the lead up to the world's first Asian Youth Games (AYG) in Singapore.

Students from Nanyang Technological University's School of Art, Design and Media (SADM) were asked to create a unique Singapore-flavoured mascot for the Singapore Olympic Youth Games (SYOG).

After a creative retreat held in Singapore by the Olympic Youth Games Organising Committee (YOGOC) headquarters in September 2008 came several suggestions for character mascots for the Singapore Youth Games to be held in 2010.

Changi Exhibition Centre To Be First Singapore YOG Logistic Hub

Changi Exhibition Centre will be used as the logistics hub for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games.

Changi Exhibition Centre has 100,000 square metres of outdoor space and 40,000 square metres of indoor space, plenty of space to be a great logistics hub for the Singapore Youth Olympic Games.

The site of the Singapore Airshow 2008, this huge tract of reclaimed land with a fantastic sea view will house all Singapore 2010 equipment – from souvenir pins to scoreboards. Electronic computer assembly and software installation will also take place in Changi Exhibition Centre.

This was announced by the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee on 26 February 2009.

These are the qualifying criteria, rules and quota for Singapore Olympic Games for Youths (YOG) for the sport of Badminton.

You can obtain latest details and news on Badminton qualification from the the official SYOG website.

YOG Badminton Events (Total=2)
M: Singles
W: Singles

YOG Badminton Quota:
Total = 64 places
Qualified via IF (BWF) = 46
NOC Universality Places = 16
Host Country Places = 2

YOG Badminton NOC Quota:
2 M and 2 W

YOG Badminton Age Group:
1/1/92 - 31/12/93

YOG Badminton Qualification System:

YOG Badminton Qualifying Events:
5 YCC in 2010, JWC in 2010.

YOG Badminton Procedure:
Highest ranked M and W (1 per NOC) qualify according to continental quotas at YCC or based on continental ranking list (Africa, America and Oceania – 2 per event; Asia and Europe – 5 per event). The remaining places qualify through the 2010 JWC ranking list.

These are the qualifying criteria, rules and quota for Olympic Youth Games for Youth (YOG) 33 Basketball.

You can obtain details on Basketball qualifying terms from the official website.

YOG 33 Basketball Events (Total=2)
20-team tournaments (M & W)

YOG 33 Basketball Quota:
Total = 160 places
Qualified via IF (FIBA) = 128
NOC Universality Places = 24
Host Country Places = 8

YOG 33 Basketball NOC Quota:
1 M Team, 1 W Team

YOG 33 Basketball Age Group:
1/1/93 - 31/12/94

YOG 33 Basketball Qualification System:

YOG 33 Basketball Qualifying Events:
FIBA gender ranking.

YOG 33 Basketball Procedure:
16 teams will qualify: the 4 best placed teams in the FIBA gender ranking and 12 teams based on (1) A, B or C membership and results in senior and youth competitions (2) participation in official FIBA competitions or (3) the level of development of the sport in the country.
