Singapore, 24 September 2008 – The Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee’s Chairman, Mr Ng Ser Miang, and Director of Culture and Education Programme, Mr Lee Pak Sing, will be attending the 6th World Forum on Sport, Education and Culture in Busan (Korea) from 25 to 27 September 2008.
They will share with the 800 participants on how Singapore aims to create a unique and inspiring Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2010 - one that is grounded in the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect, and which will inspire youth of the world to bring about positive changes to their lives and communities through their participation in sport, culture and education.
At the panel for one of the plenary sessions (26 September), Mr Ng will discuss the topic of “Creating a sporting event with a strong education programme – Youth Olympic Games”. Mr Lee will moderate the session on “Benefiting from the Youth Olympic Games”.
Jointly organised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Metropolitan City of Busan, the Forum will bring together participants such as IOC members, Olympic Games Organising Committees, and other international organizations. It will review the culture and education work undertaken by the Olympic movement and chart future directions to further the sporting, cultural and educational mission of the Olympic movement.
The Forum will coincide with the 4th Busan TAFISA World Sport for All Games from 26 September to 2 October.
