Singapore 2010 Young Change Makers YCM Grant

The Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) and the Young ChangeMakers (YCM) under the National Youth Council (NYC) is introducing a grant scheme called Singapore 2010 Young Change Makers YCM Grant to inspire youths to embark on YOG-themed projects within their schools or communities.

Seed funding, non-monetary support and resources are provided to youths who want to make a meaningful change in their community and encourage people to live by the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect.

The Singapore 2010 being for youth by youth, would like to encourage you to take ownership and Create Action Now!

Eligibility For Singapore 2010 Young Change Makers YCM Grant

• Grant applicants must be an informal group of youths (ages 13 to 35 years old).

• Non-Singaporeans are encouraged to apply for the grant as a project team including Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents.

• The project must promote Olympism (e.g. values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect), create opportunities for youth to learn more about and participate in the Singapore 2010 YOG, and live out the Olympic values (i.e. Excellence, Friendship and Respect).

• The project should not have inflammatory or discriminatory religious or racial elements, advance a partisan political agenda, or be contrary to the interest of the community and society at large.

• Activities must be legal.

• Total funding from all Government agencies (including The Grant applied for) should not exceed 80% of project cost. The project must not have commercial sponsorship that conflicts with the Worldwide Olympic Partners and the official YOG sponsors (The confirmed Worldwide Olympic Partners for the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games are Coca-Cola, Acer, Atos Origin, General Electric, McDonalds, Omega, Panasonic, Samsung, and Visa.) Contact the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) for clarification.

• Core activities of the proposed project are based in Singapore and benefit the local community (including foreigners residing in Singapore).


ASSESSMENT CRITERIA FOR PROJECTS Under Singapore 2010 Young Change Makers YCM Grant:

• Promotion of Olympism and alignment with YOG objectives and themes

• Outreach to youth and how they are involved in Singapore 2010 through the project

• Innovation of the idea and/or approach

• Community benefit (in terms of involving participants outside of the parent school/organisation and benefiting the community, e.g. through education and creating awareness)

• Inclusiveness (i.e. not segregative in nature and/or effort to include those at the margins)

• Youth development (e.g. learning and skills acquisition by the project team or participants)
